BF2218 COMMODITY MARKETS (4.0 AU)

The course aims to give students a solid understanding of commodities markets with primary focus on agriculture, metals and minerals and energy and chemicals. It focuses on fundamental concepts and terminology necessary for understanding commodity production, transportation, economics and marketing. It also educates students in trading technology trends and innovation and look into sustainability challenges and legal aspects.

    1. Bell curve is quite steep because the quizzes (I believe) are easy except for the first one on metals and the group project (I suspect) is the only major differentiating factor for grades in most cases.
    2. Workload across the semester is quite chill (literal just study for a quiz after every 3 lectures) except towards the end, where doing 3 separate essays followed by a presentation on one topic can be quite time-constraining.
    3. Class part is recorded via simple comments throughout lectures. Even though the cohort size is quite big, there is ample opportunity to contribute.
    4. Quite a few insightful learnings bc the lecturers are from the industry itself and they share pretty openly!
