The subject of materials for electronics has been one of the key drivers for the advancement of Science and Technology. This course aims to build the foundation and inspire the interest of freshmen enrolled in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) after completing the first semester common engineering curriculum. This course will focus on fundamental concepts and basic principles that are related to the materials for electronics and the latest progress in this field. It is expected that by the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation in materials for electronics, and be well-prepared for further study in the subsequent courses in EEE.
Contents: Introduction to materials science and engineering. Atomic structure and interatomic bonding. Structure of crystalline solids and semiconductor materials. Thermal properties. Electrical properties. Optical properties. Magnetic properties.

prior chemistry n physics background would be good (esp chem); hav weekly graded work so be aware (in total contributes to around 20% of grades iirc) and 2 “mid term tests” (10% each) and lastly finals. Finals (60%) really was race against time, questions were not as easy as usual tests/hw, but if practice enough of pyps shld be able to score decent.
Lecturer really sucked especially for second half, mumbling stuff in the video and the best thing is that he didnt write down these points in the notes so idk what he is trying to say. But my tutor at least was great, went the extra mile, willing to hold 1 to 1 consultations with me online whenever i needed. But overall, unless u hav taken H2/H1 chem, would hav a rather hard time to understand things compared to peers who did (from someone who only had sec school chem knowledge). Workload is fine, tutorials nt compulsory but most ppl do it so that they can do well in the graded tests weekly that contribute to the 20% (or u can find ppl to do it with, the pool of questions used usually are the same, just tat mayb sometimes values are slightly different)

imagine taking chemistry as a 3AU mod as a CS major!
Lectures where the prof is reading off the screen, no explanation at all about diagrams and reasoning. Had to google for most of the topic.
Paper assumed I knew what is Tungsten in the periodic table. Hello how i know tungsten is W?
