EE4266 COMPUTER VISION (3.0 AU)

Computer Vision and Image Processing play very important roles in fields such as Machine and Robot Intelligence. They provide the means for the machine or robot to interact intelligently with the outside world through visual perception. Vision is undoubtedly the most powerful of all senses and enables robots to perform very flexible tasks such as moving around autonomously in a factory floor or outdoors. The applications are plentiful and very challenging. Face recognition, human activity interpretations, human-computer interaction, quality inspection of mass-produced parts, obot/vehicle guidance, medical imaging and computer vision-aided surgery are some of the applications. The objective of this course is to prepare students for working in such intelligent automation fields.

I didn’t have any background in computer vision when entering this course so this was a pretty good introduction. Don’t expect to learn the latest CV techniques though, only classical methods are covered. There are several assignments/projects you’ll need to complete during the mod, which helps you go in depth into some of the topics and apply them.
